Experience close encounters with South Africas wildlife

Everybody who wants to experience the gorgeous South Africa first-hand, needs to stay for a game drive in the Botlierskop Private Game Reserve!

The 3.000 ha game reserve is situated only about 20 minutes from Avenues Guesthouse. In a breathtaking beautiful landscape and also surrounded by the spectacular Outeniqua-mountains, it offers the possibility to enjoy watching 26 different species in a very close distance and free roaming in their natural habitat.

Sandboarding in Mossel Bay

South Africa is not the right destination for all snow-lovers at all. But for those who love snowboarding, Mossel Bay has something very special: Sandboarding on the longest sandboarding dune in South Africa, the Dragon Dune!

Situated on a private farm 35 km just outside of Mossel Bay, Dragon Dune is a 320 m long and fast ride that will pump pure adrenalin through your veins.

Pansy Shell from Diaz Beach / Mossel Bay

Rare Beach Beauties: Pansy Shells and Paper Nautiluses

There is nothing better than walking at the beach with sunshine and low tide! Mossel Bay offers a big variety of beautiful, unspoiled beaches in close vicinity. And if you go to Diaz Beach (about 8 minutes from Avenues Guesthouse), you might have the chance to find a Pansy Shell!

The Pansy Shell (Echinodiscus bisperforatus) is a fragile carcass of a sea urchin, which has a flimsy pattern of a Pansy on the one side. Alive, the carcass is crimson coloured and barbed.

Catwalk in Mossel Bay

Walk with African Lions, a once in a lifetime experience!

A very special attraction is now available at Zorgfontein Eco & Wildlife Reserve, about 20 minutes drive from Avenues Guesthouse: Hiking with free roaming lions!
The lions got carefully used to human beings, so that you can get insight into their behaviour – without fences, leashes or collars. And during the walk you will get useful information about Africa’s most majestic predator from the guides of Zorgfontein.

Scuba Diving in Mossel Bay

ELECTRODIVE The only professional Dive Team in Mossel Bay!

Electrodive is one of the oldest and biggest dive clubs in South Africa and the only professional dive shop in Mossel Bay. We have been going for over 20 years and have trained thousands of divers and under water hockey players.
For those who don't dive, but would like to experience a "Rubber Duck" boat ride, we will take you around the bay and Point for a two hour ride. If you care to try snorkelling or fishing, this can be arranged.

Are you tired of going by car all the time?

Then we do have a nice recommendation for you – leave your car at Avenues Guesthouse and explore Mossel Bay on foot! Just a few steps from us you will find a section of the St. Blaize Trail, which is a breathtaking trail following the coast between Dana Bay and Mossel Bay. After approx. 45 minutes of genuine nature along the steep coast with a wonderful view of the Indian Ocean and a varied flora and fauna you will reach the St. Blaize Cave at the "Point", the most Eastern point of Mossel Bay.
